Information

Amfiteatr Tysiąclecia (eng. Thousand years' amphitheater) is one of the key symbols of Opole.It started being built in 1958, after World War II and was finished by 1962. It's shape references a fig leaf which combined with the concrete materials gives it a unique look. It has, after the renovation in 2009, 3653 seats available for booking. The National Polish Song Festival has been held here since 1963. The amphitheater also houses the National Centre of Polish Song and the Polish Song Museum. There are often concerts held there as well.

Fun facts

*It was built on the site of the oldest Slavic settlement in Opole. It was planned to open a museum where the preserved remains of the oldest buildings would be exhibited, but the plan didn't succeed.
