Information

The name "Kukurydze" comes from their shape, resembling a corncob (which it translates too - "corncobs"). They are 87 meters tall and have 120 flats each. The building was planned in 1961 and was finished all the way in 1991, after communism fell. That is the longest building process out of all the buildings presented on here. During Polish People's Republic times it was considered prestigious or even luxurious (for a block) to live in Kukurydze

They were, though despite the striking resemblance, the grandson of one of the architects says that it’s an untrue myth, inspired by Marina City (Chicago building complex’s) twin towers.
