Information

The literal translation of the name is "The Waveform”, referencing the way its segments, tilted by 165 degrees, create a look of a sea wave. That particular way of buiiding it might also point at the fact that it's located near the seashore

There are more than just that one, but the Obrońców Wybrzeża Falowiec is the longest of them all, being roughly 860 meters long, having 11 floors with the estimated number of flat occupants (despite the original goals of 1,495 people) counting up to 6,000, making it the 7th longest residential building and overall the 20th longest builiding in Europe.

Fun facts

* There is an interesting book by Monika Milewska titled “Latawiec z betonu” (eng. “A kite made of concerete”), telling a story about the architect (a fictional character) who built the Falowiec living in his brainchild. It, among other stories, talks about children being lost in the building, a cow on one of the balconies and other funny (and sometimes scary) stories to as the reader can only wonder which ones were fiction and which really happened.

* A Polish artist, Julita Wójcik, made an over 560cm long crochet project showcasing the Falowiec building.
